Flash and Firefox

Let's say you go to Pandora and it says you have to install the Flash plugin. You click on install, and it says it wasn't found and tells you to install it manually.

You go to the website and download flash_player_9_solaris_x86.tar.bz2. Then what?

As root, extract from the archive and drop it into /usr/lib/firefox/plugins. Restart Firefox and you're done =)


  1. Thanks for this Post. I downloaded the Plugin, but I didnt know what to do with the File ;-)
    What about the Vulnerability of the FlashPlayer 9? Is it just a Windows-Thing, or is it generally vulnerable?

    So for your system safty, I think the best thing you can do for now is to disable adobe flash when you surf the internet on Solaris
